Dopo un mese di residenza artistica presso la Gallaeria T293, l’artista americana mette in scene un paesaggio composto da diverse serie: Thin skins, Sand Slumps, Golden Springs e Fountain of youth. I suoi lavori esplorano la complessità dell’esistenza umana e i suoi possibili significati.
Le superfici delle cose, cucite, rattoppate, raschiate, usurate rappresentano e caratterizzano la nostra esperienza sul mondo e il modo in cui interagiamo con esso.
Il mondo naturale e artistico si incontrano, si miscelano, invertendo i canoni di contenuto/conteni- tore, luogo/opera.
Lavora sulla “pelle” degli oggetti, mettendo in evidenza il substrato coinvolto in maniera diretta sulle cose che lo circondano.
L’artista opera sulla possibilità di evoluzione della materia, trasformandola, plasmandola.
Nella serie The Skins superfici translucide si aprono sulla tela, tenute insieme da cuciture imprecise. Leggerezza e illusione, velo aldilà del quale non riusciamo a vedere.
Sand Slump delinea un nuovo approccio alla tradizionale scultura, oggetti in resina sull’orlo di sacchi di sabbia mostrano un precario equilibrio, definendo un nuovo paesaggio caratterizzato da una pesantezza gravitazionale.
Un richiamo alle origini, alle radici del luogo di residenza attraverso la sabbia vulcanica che diviene la materia lavorata in sottrazione e/o in addizione rappresentando ora il mezzo, ora il contenuto dei suoi oggetti. Simbolo di una dicotomia presenza/assenza, generatrice/distruttrice, la materia vulcanica si scompone e si ricompone.
Confinati negli angoli delle stanze Golden Springs e Fountain of youth, oggetti in gesso rivestiti di foglie dorate mettono in evidenza la ciclicità dell’esistenza colata lentamente goccia dopo goccia d’oro.
Sunbathing in the shadow of the volcano fa emergere un nuovo possibile paesaggio dove elementi terreni si uniscono a quelli simbolici, mettendo in evidenza i tentativi da parte dell’uomo di cambiamento ed evoluzione del sé per costruire un futuro possibile.

After a month of artist in residence at Galleria T293, the American artist puts up a new landscape made up of several series: Thin skins, Sand Slumps, Golden Springs and Fountain of youth. Her works explores the complexity of human conditions and its possible meanings.
The surfaces of stitched, patched, scraped, worn items represent and characterize our experience of the world and the way we interact with it.
Nature meets art, reversing the standard canons of content/container, place/opera.
She works on the “skin” of objects, highlighting the substratum involved directly or undirectly on the things that surround it. Her tactile work is based on the processing and molding.
In the series The Skins translucent surfaces open onto the canvas, held together by fleeting sti- tching. Lightness mixed with illusion, a veil beyond which we cannot see.
Sand Slump outlines a new approach to traditional sculpture , resin items on the edge of sandbags show a precarious balance, setting a new landscape characterized by a gravitational structure. A recall to the roots of the place of residence through the volcanic sand that becomes the subject worked in subtraction and or in addition now representing the tools and the content of her works. Volcanic matter put together and break up, it represents a dichotomy presence/absence, generating/destructive.
Confined in corners of rooms Golden Springs and Fountain of youth, gold leafed circular forms show the cyclical nature of existence, poured slowly golden drop by drop.
Sunbathing in the shadow of the volcano brings out a new landscape where earthly elements combine with the symbolic ones, aiming to manifest our attempts in order to change and to evolve ourselves and finally build a possible future.
