Sarà Forever l’installazione di Ai Weiwei che sarà visibile appena fuori il 30 St Mary Axe, meglio conosciuto col nome di Gherkin di Londra.
Formata da centinaia di bici in acciaio, il nome dell’opera si riferisce alla marca Forever, celebre in Cina per la realizzazione delle bici usate dalla popolazione, tratto distintivo che sta via via scomparendo.
“These are mostly objects that relate to my small world. For example, the Forever bicycles were a brand from when I was growing up. In our village there were no real roads and we always had to ride bikes to carry things. I thought they would be a good public sculpture because people relate to bikes. They’re designated for the body and operated with your body. There are a few things today that are like that.”
L’opera sarà visibile dal 4 al 13 September 2015 come parte del progamma Sculpture in the City.
