L’arte plastica di Katharine Morling

L’arte plastica è forse il più difficile tipo di arte da apprezzare e comprendere. La difficoltà sta probabilmente  nella complicatezza delle forme, che alle volte assumono un peso che schiaccia la qualità o il significato della singola opera. Le sculture di Katharine Morling fondano sulla semplicità formale e cromatica la loro particolarità. Interamente in ceramica, le sculture ritraggono oggetti quotidiani. Da disegni naturali a oggetti d’arte come macchine da scrivere o oggetti semplici come sedie o fiammiferi. Oltre alle straordinarie forme, le ceramiche estremizzano la loro natura attraverso linee grafiche che ripassano la sagoma delle sculture, conferendogli uno stile bidimensionale, che fa di opere tridimensionali, un insieme di scultura e schizzo manuale.

Ogni singola opera rappresenta una scultura a se stante, ma potenzialmente parte di una storia molto più ampia. La narrativa dell’artista sta nella possibilità di poter combinare i pezzi tra di loro, dando vita ad un’opera d’arte esponenzialmente più grande. Dal singolo, la scultura diviene teatro di storie nelle mani dell’artista prima, e dello spettatore poi.
