Le illusioni ottiche di Andrew Faris

I lavori di Adrew Faris illudono lo sguardo dell’osservatore, tanto che la sua opera mette a nudo l’ambiguità tra le tecniche digitali e gli inserimenti fisici. Faris è un artista Americano che vive e lavora a Jackson, nello stato del Wyoming, eleborando inserimenti geometrici colorati in paesaggi naturali. Ne deriva un lavoro meticoloso di accostamento delle varie arti visive inglobate in un unico quadro, dove l’estrema linearità delle soluzioni formali coesiste con il naturale.

L’artista americano utilizza vernice acrilica su tela per creare opere minimaliste o astratte, e le inserisce in ambienti rurali che circondano la sua casa nel Wyoming. Infine fotografa il risultato.

Faris utilizza i suoi acrilici su tela come finestre che si affacciano sui paesaggi che sceglie di fotografare, dando allo spettatore una nuova chiave di lettura, nuovi colori e nuove prospettive per interpretarli. Le opere generano su un’illusione ottica, con forme semplici, e sfidano le elaborazioni della postproduzione.

Il mio pensiero è questo: in una società sempre più complessa e competitiva severamente governata dalla tecnologia e inossidabili mani robotiche, c’è un bisogno spassionato di una tregua artistica.  La semplicità, è stato detto, è l’essenza della bellezza. Non potrei essere più d’accordo.
