L’importanza di restare / Føroyar di Kevin Faingnaert

Le Fær Øer sono un arcipelago nell’oceano Atlantico inizialmente appartenente al Regno di Danimarca e rese autonome da poco più di mezzo secolo.

Il fotografo belga Kevin Faingnaert ha deciso di raccogliere in una serie fotografica la vita in queste isole che stanno lentamente, ma inevitabilmente, andando in declino a causa dell’emigrazione dei giovani in cerca di opportunità.

Scatti calmi e rassicuranti celano –nemmeno troppo in profondità– una drammaticità che induce a riflettere sull’importanza di restare, contrapposta alla necessità di lasciare la propria madrepatria.

La serie Føroyar è ora un libro pubblicato dalla casa editrice indipendente Another Place.
