L’illustratrice Sunny Eckerle ha dedicato una serie di illustrazioni al fenomeno dei Bodega Cats, ovvero tutti quei gatti habitué di piccole gastronomie o negozietti.
Nata e cresciuta nel sud del Colorado, al momento del suo trasferimento a Brooklyn resta da subito impressionata dal fenomeno e a tal proposito scrive:
“I was fascinated, confused, and excited by the cats who lived in corner stores and delis. I didn’t understand why a cat would be roaming the aisles of a store – not that I didn’t enjoy befriending them (or trying to).”
Ogni illustrazione rappresenta un gatto e il negozietto nel quale vive, il tutto accompagnato da un testo con l’indirizzo e una breve descrizione.
