Tell us about the coworking space theDesk where you are based. How do you think it could be useful in your work?
theDesk is a coworking space focus on inclusive community. Their spirit are quite different then most others. In an environment like this lots of things can happen, share, exchange, and new ideas and business opportunity could happen which you won’t get in a own private office.
The world of 100 Our Global Village is one of your most popular works. Tell us about the project ant its developments.
If the world were a village of 100 people, what would its composition be? This set of 20 posters is built on statistics about the spread of population around the world under various classifications. The numbers are turned into graphics to give another sense a touch – Look, this is the world we are living in.
I started this project back in 2008 at Central St Martins and it evolve to The World of 100 Postcards as a book format at 2011. At first I was interested in infographics and what I found was different nicely crafted graphs / lines / patterns but I don’t understand them. And I think infographics could be something that make anyone understand a subject matter in a more simple way. So I designed The World of 100 base on the research called If the world were a village of 100 people which I found very interesting.
Your mind is very ironic and imaginative. In your opinion, how could creativity help us in our life?
Creativity and design in the end is problem solving. When you are able to see things differently your life may be more interesting and fun 🙂
One of your last project is The Parable of Jesus. Could you explain the project and why did you say that it could be shown in museums?
The Parable of Jesus is a design project that aims to send you positive vibes. With a contemporary style and minimal touch, it draws life-related messages matched with corresponding classic stories and insights-rich illustrations one at a time. A mentor you can always refer to, The Parable of Jesus reminds us of small, simple yet day-changing ideas that are actually around us.
Even its base on christian content but the whole goal is to make it not religious and acceptable by anyone anywhere. We are just using the bible content to said a everyone related positive issue. It is very different then any christian product you would have ever since specially if you are comparing this with the asian christian market products. The designs are very contemporary, sophisticated and actually its a very innovative approach to commutated the ideas. I am not surprise to see these product to sell in any museums’ store.
After the infographic passion, what will be your next interest?
I guess is how we can apply creative thinking and design to help business growth, work and perform much better by good communications, strategy and branding.
