HYGGE – La ricetta della felicità

La Danimarca da molto tempo è in cima alla classifica dei Paesi più felici al mondo, al punto da essere definita “la superpotenza della felicità”. Da anni è ai primissimi posti del World Happiness Report commissionato dalle Nazioni Unite (nel 2017 si è posizionata al secondo posto dopo i cugini norvegesi) e la rivista Monocle ha incoronato diverse volte Copenaghen la città più vivibile del mondo. 
Ma qual è il segreto del paese scandinavo?
Per rispondere a questa domanda sono stati condotti studi da università, sindacati e giornalisti ed è stato addirittura fondato l’Happiness Research Institute, un istituto di ricerca che analizza il benessere e la qualità della vita dei danesi provando ad individuarne le cause per creare un modello da esportare nel resto del mondo.
 A prima vista, si potrebbe individuare la ragione del benessere nella felicità del suo popolo. I danesi sono infatti invogliati a sostenere gli alti oneri fiscali perché ciò che ricevono dallo stato è direttamente proporzionato alle alte tasse. Un po’ come se, pagandole, comprassero il loro benessere. Eppure, scavando più a fondo, la verità si arricchisce di nuovi fattori.
 Per esprimere in una sola parola questa sensazione di felicità così tipica i danesi hanno addirittura un termine, hygge, parola che racchiude un insieme di elementi che, combinati insieme, generano uno stato di benessere diffuso che non si spiega, ma che tutti percepiscono.
 L’origine della parola viene fatta risalire a un termine norvegese che significa proprio “benessere”, ma c’è chi sostiene che derivi da “hugge” ovvero “abbracciare”. Per altri, invece, deriverebbe “hygga”, termine della lingua norreana che sta per “confortare”. È interessante notare come, per quanto diverse tra loro siano le origini a cui la parola è stata fatta risalire, i significati siano tutti elementi importanti della filosofia hygge.
