Il primo ristorante subacqueo d’Europa apre le porte al pubblico – Under / Snøhetta

Under, il primo ristorante subacqueo d’Europa –e il più grande del mondo– ha aperto le porte al pubblico.

Progettato dallo studio di architettura Snøhetta, Under è situato nel punto più meridionale della costa norvegese, in cui le mareggiate provenienti da Nord e da Sud si incontrano.

Il termine “Under” in norvegese ha il duplice significato di “sotto” e “meraviglia” e nessun nome poteva essere più adatto a questo blocco dalla forma monolitica lungo 34 metri che si immerge per 5 metri di profondità nel fondale marino.

La struttura è costituita da un guscio grezzo di cemento che nel tempo fungerà da barriera artificiale accogliendo molluschi e alghe integrandosi completamente nell’ambiente naturale.

“Under è una storia di contrasti; il contrasto tra la terra e il mare, tra il sopra e il sotto. Il progetto sottolinea il delicato equilibrio ecologico tra la terra e il mare e attira la nostra attenzione su modelli sostenibili per un consumo responsabile. Concentrandosi sulla coesistenza della vita sulla terra e nell’oceano, Under propone un nuovo modo di intendere la nostra relazione con l’ambiente circostante: sopra la superficie, sotto l’acqua e accanto alla vita marina.”

Lo spesso guscio di cemento è pensato per resistere alla pressione e agli urti del mare in tempesta e le sue vetrate offrono un’impagabile vista sul fondale marino. Gli interni sono ispirati alle acque oceaniche creando un’atmosfera accogliente che diventa tutt’uno con il contesto circostante.
