Tillanelli x Artwort | Intervista Illustrata a Anja Schemeleva-Konovalenko

This is a series of illustrated interviews a bit special because it is made in partnership with Tillanelli, a Saint Petersburg-based illustration collective. The basic concept is always the same: 5 inputs to which illustrators respond through sketches. Not something complex and elaborate, but just sketches on paper, as when as children we give shape to our imagination. Let’s get to know something about this beautiful reality and the illustrators who are part of it.

My name is Anja, I am an abstract digital artist and illustrator. I grew up in a very arty atmosphere. All of my family members are artists, except grandma – she was a musician and my dad – he was an architect. I have no choice to be someone else than an artist and I literally can’t live without it even for a day. I prefer abstract forms in my artworks because the search process of which form and color I want to represent in my works is meditating for me. I always try to convert my current emotional state in my works, it’s a very important thing for me. I don’t know what will happen in 20 years, but I will definitely be an artist until the end.
