Not everyone is comfortable with words, some people are able to fully express themselves with music, others with images. For this reason, we have decided to start this new format: we give 5 inputs to some of the illustrators we like most and ask them to respond through drawings. Not something complex and elaborate, just sketches on paper, like when as children we give shape to our imagination.
I’m Poan Pan, a freelance illustrator based in London, using a soft palette and coloured pencils as my primary tools. My illustrations respond to reality and resonate with the awkwardness in daily life. Being an illustrator taking inspiration from the daily news and details of everyday life, my focus is commonly centred around the connections we share with ourselves, nature and each other. I translate my observation and interpretation of the relationship. Also, seasoning my illustrations with motion created a lifeful narrative and bridging the gap between audiences and my illustrations with the final touch of humour.
