Not everyone is comfortable with words; some people can fully express themselves through music, others through images. For this reason, we have decided to start this new type of format in which we give 5 prompts to some of the illustrators we like the most and ask them to respond through sketches. Not something complex and elaborate, but just rough sketches on paper, like when as children we give shape to our imagination. This is Scarlett Yang.

Scarlett Yang is a London-based Chinese illustrator and book cover designer. She blends Eastern and Western influences to explore identity, feminism, and human relationships. Her surreal, symbolic style embraces ambiguity and duality, inviting reflection on beauty and violence, clarity and obscurity. Her clients include Penguin Random House, Macmillan, Hachette, HarperCollins, FairyLoot, and more.
