Not everyone is comfortable with words; some people can fully express themselves through music, others through images. For this reason, we have decided to start this new type of format in which we give 5 prompts to some of the illustrators we like the most and ask them to respond through sketches. Not something complex and elaborate, but just rough sketches on paper, like when as children we give shape to our imagination. This is Sixian Wang.

Sixian Wang is a Chinese illustrator based in California whose work is rooted in visual storytelling. Inspired by psychological growth, everyday experiences, and the small moments of daily life, she creates images that explore resilience, personal growth, and the quiet relationship between people and nature.
Her work has appeared in publications including TIME and Reactor Magazine, and has been recognized by American Illustration, the Society of Illustrators, and the 3×3 International Illustration Awards. She continues to explore how contemporary illustration can tell stories that connect with people across cultures and generations.
