You Are My Type Vol.1 is Mario Carpe‘s latest project, a volume that contains part of his extensive production – the second will arrive soon – which the graphic designer and illustrator released inviting us in entering his world of bold, provocative, colorful creativity.
Mario defines himself:
“An earthling who helps brands and humans capture the attention of their audiences through bold visual solutions.”
This concise but illuminating description immediately provides an idea of the author’s modus operandi who brings together graphic design, typography, illustration, poster design and print design: a series of prints inspired by life and work that focuses on important themes and messages by playing and experimenting with typefaces.
Each image reveals study, balance, well-chosen compositions and graphics inspired by the art of Boccioni and Marinetti, a pastiche where past and future mix .
While waiting for the second volume we remember that Mario Carpe – born in Spain in Cadiz which he defines as “A southern paradise surrounded by sun, sea, seagulls and jokes…” where he currently has his studio – after a double degree in Law and Business Administration at Charles III University of Madrid followed his vocation as a designer, started during childhood with scribble (sometimes even on the walls). Over the years there have been numerous recognitions and prizes. We mention – among others – Shortlist Communication Art, CSS Design Awards, Cresta International Advertising Awards, Folio Eddie & Ozzie, Weart Festival Barcelona.
